John F Kennedy and West Papua

New Guinea, or Papua is the world's largest tropical island.
West Papua was traded as a colony by John F Kennedy from the Netherlands to Indonesia via the New York Agreement unwittingly for the benefit of Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc. Freeport is now Indonesia's largest tax payer, and those profiting from this colony (members of the US Indonesia Society & the Indonesian military) do not wish you to know that West Papua is a colony as defined in UN Resolution 1541 (Principles 4&5) entitled to the full protection of UN Resolution 1514.

In West Papua the colonial repression began with the United Nations signing the illegal 1962 New York Agreement. It is illegal to trade a colony, no matter who does it.

West New Guinea had already held national elections and inaugurated its own New Guinea Council on 5/Apr/1961. Reacting to the news of plans for the New York Agreement the Council on 19/Oct/1961 wrote West Papua's Manifesto, selected their anthem, design their national seal and the Morning Star flag. This was the birth of West Papua.

The Morning Star flag was presented to Dutch Governor Platteel on 31st October who said "Never before has the oneness of the Council been put forward so strongly." The Morning Star was raised next to the Dutch Tri-colour on 1st December 1961.

Any colony is a nation without voice, a nation being divided in violation of UN Resolution 1514, a beloved land whose people are being repressed by foreign military, militia, exploitation, media restriction. West Papua now suffers a HIV/AIDS epidemic and the legacy of dependency after the destruction of its own evolving 1962 Papuan civil services.

We, the people of the world must support them and end this colonization.
